With a love for small batch designers, her homeland of Australia and the feel-good act of gifting, Kate Pierce realised there was a gap in the market. Kate saw a need for an online curation of the best Australian and New Zealand-designed gifts, available to people from Ballarat, Birmingham, Boston and beyond. She wanted to cut the tackiness in the gift industry and bring back pride to giving. Kate also knew that she couldn't not do something about this.
So in 2012, Kate quit her corporate job (she's previously worked in the UK, China and India in project management) and set up Antipodean Love with the help of with husband James, AKA the in-house IT manager, daughters Ruby and Bella and their cheeky german short haired pointer Lulu.
Antipodean’[an-tip-uh-dee-uhn] means ‘people or things that come from or relate to Australia and New Zealand’ and that’s what Antipodean Love is all about. Working from Ballarat in regional Victoria, Kate and James proudly support ‘home grown’ designers across Australia and New Zealand and their small batch goods.
Antipodean Love recently rebranded, with a redesigned website and a whole new range of established and up-and-coming brands, with Arro Home, Henry and Co and Kip and Co some of its newest partners.
Kate is constantly scouring Pinterest, Instagram and markets (you name it - she’s been there) to bring the best and most relevant ‘home-grown’ designs in store. Plus, she strongly believes in old-fashioned service, so she giftwraps and handwrites sweet nothings (well sort of) to go with every gift too. And these touches pay off, with Antipodean Love consistently rated 10/10 for customer service.
Antipodean Love is the online home and now retail space, for the best Australian and New Zealand gifts, whether it’s for a ‘thank you’, new baby, birthday, anniversary or to treat yourself.
