Australia Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate this wide brown land. I am very proud to be Australian, not in a Southern Cross tattoo kinda way (not that there is anything wrong with that!) but I love where I come from and feel very fortunate to call this place home. I appreciate it even more now that I have two little children and the opportunities that I can afford them which to be honest would be very challenging in other parts of this amazing planet!
Life is good here and every night I am reminded of that when I watch or read the news. So this Australia Day I will be getting my bogan on, we will probably have a barbie, listen to Triple J's Hottest 100 and I have every intention to make some of these scrummo Aussie treats. More than likely though I will just knock out some fairy bread shapes or may even make some cookies with these awesome cookie cutters if the weather is not too hot to turn the oven on! I am also so going to try this epic sparkler trick.

So don your yellow and gold this Australia Day, be excessive with your Australian slang and marvel and celebrate this fantastic place we call home. And if you are not here ask yourself as did Lara Bingle did “so where the bloody hell are you?” (I found it so funny looking through the old tourism ads, check out good ol' Paul Hogan here, yikes!)
