The Fat Mum Slim Gift Exchange has been going since 2012 and this year I finally got myself organised and participated. My husband laughed at me as it is a crazy time of year, I am a wrapping machine with all the orders for the business, it is my eldest daughters birthday and all the Christmas gifts I need to buy so why oh why would I want to add another present in to the mix. Well I did and boy oh boy am I glad that I did so.
This gift exchange is on massive proportions, so much so that Chantelle needs to bring in little elves to help her run, monitor and contain this beast. You can elect to send locally or select that you are happy to ship overseas. You sign up by making a $5 donation to the amazing charity Rafiki Mwema, you receive an email of who your Secret Santa is and you are on your way. A facebook group is set up so that you can stalk your Secret Santa, not crazy restraining order stalking but questions are posed, social media accounts are shared and from this you do your detective work and buy a gift(s). The value of the gift is to be $25 (minimum spend) with postage on top of that amount. I was not on the facebook page a great deal as I have been crazy busy but I gather the information I could and purchased what I feel (hopefully!) was a good gift for my Secret Santa.
I was so excited when I received my gift! I crushed my husband exclaiming that this was the most excited that I had been about a gift for years and I was not disappointed, my Secret Santa put a serious smile on my dial. There was not one but four gifts all gorgeously wrapped and packaged together. You may notice in the pic below that the light in the first image is a little different. I initially opened the gift, was mega busy with the business and then enjoyed the unwrapping/unveiling the next day. There was so much thought put in to my gorgeous gift. I received a bar of Gabriel Chocolate from Margaret River, Yallingup, a very cute pink felt bowl that has pride of place now on my bedside table for my rings and bits and bobs. A stunning handmade ceramic bell by Dale Frances from Found at the Fremantle Arts Centre and a seriously cute stamp set by Beau Est Mien. I am not sure about my glorious little felt bowl but all my goodies were handmade in Western Australia and this to me is spectacular! I think we officially find out who our Secret Santa was on the 20th of December, until then whoever you are, you absolutely blitzed it and I am so very thankful for your amazing participation in this gift exchange.
So if you have time and feel ever so inclined I would definitely recommend giving this a go. That is if Chantelle has the stamina and drive to go through all the madness again for another year!
